World’s longest sea bridge is all set to be open soon. The sea bridge will connect the Chinese city of Macau with Hong Kong will cut short the travel time from 3 hours to 30 minutes. The 55km bridge is made with the expense of $20 billion.
The top officials of China including President Xi Jinping will attend the inaugural ceremony of sea bridge in Zhuhai on Tuesday and it will be available for the public use from Wednesday.
The bridge covers the major areas of southern China, Hong Kong, and Macau thus covering 56,500 square km and is home to nearly 68 million people. It also includes a seven-kilometer underwater tunnel journey.
As per the regulation associated with the sea bridge, the owner of the private car will not be able to travel without a special permit.
The state media talked about the capacity of the bridge by saying that it is “made from enough steel to build 60 Eiffel Towers and enough space concrete to construct 22 chrysler buildings, it can withstand magnitude-8 earthquakes, and is even prepared for super typhoons. This is something to built to last a century of service”.
