World Badminton Championships 2017: PV Sindhu, B Sai Praneeth advance as singles

PV Sindhu, B Sai Praneeth and Ajay Jayaram have registered straight game victories in singles events in World Badminton Championships at the Emirates Arena on Tuesday.

Indians continued their good run at the World Badminton Championships with Olympic silver medalist Sindhu, who advanced to the pre-quarterfinals in the women’s singles after defeating Korea’s Kim Hyo Min in the second round of the competition.

Sai Praneeth and Ajay Jayaram cleared the first round with ease. Jayaram defeated Luka Wraber of Austria by 21-14 & 21-12 whereas Praneeth thrashed out Wei Nan of Hong Kong by 21-18 & 21-17. Praneeth will now face Anthony Sinisuka Ginting of Indonesia and Jayaram will play Mark Caljouw next.

Pranaav Chopra and Sikki Reddy are the only one from India that remains in the mix doubles category. Pranaav and Sikki advances to the third round after a victory by 21-12 & 21-19 over Indian-Malaysian combination of Prajakta Sawant and Yogendran Khrishnan. Though the second game was a bit more competitive, the duo still looked comfortable throughout the competition.
