Actress Deepika Padukone was deeply moved with the story of his next signed movie inspired by the acid attack survivor Lakshmi Agarwal. Not only she will act as a lead in the movie but also, she will be among the producers of Meghna Gulzar’s next movie.
While talking to the press, Deepika Padukone said that she was deeply moved with the story as it displays the strength, courage and victory of Lakshmi who not only survived the acid attack but also lead a successful life.
She said, “When I heard this story, I was deeply moved as it’s not just one of violence but of strength and courage, hope and victory. It made such an impact on me, that personally and creatively, I needed to go beyond and so the decision to turn producer”.
The acid attack survivor has faced a tragedy in 2005 when a man intentionally split acid on her face as she has rejected his marriage proposal but instead of ending her happy life with all the negative thoughts, she stood up fighting against all the odds of society.
However, her courage leads her to win the US State Department’s International Women of Courage Award in 2014 and also hosted a few TV shows along with the ramp walk at London Fashion Week in 2016.
Earlier, Deepika Padukone was working on Vishal Bharadwaj’s movie with Irrfan Khan but due to Irrfan’s bad health, the movie was halted for an indefinite time.
Vishal talking about the delay of the project said that “I am pushing back the film by a few months as both of my lead actors are down with different health problems. Irrfan is down with Jaundice and it will take him a few weeks to recover and Deepika Padukone’s back problem which had previously developed during the shooting of Padmaavat has now resurfaced”.
