Virat Kohli among Forbes Highest paid athletes, no women in top 100

Indian Skipper Virat Kohli is featured in the Forbes list of world’s highest paid athletes and he is the only Indian player to make it to the list which is topped by the American boxing champion Floyd Mayweather.

Kohli was ranked 83rd on the list with the earning of worth USD 24 million. The 29-year-old skipper has a huge fan following as he is one of the most popular athletes in the world with the twitter following of more than 25 million.

Forbes said, “Yet like the Indian cricket mega-stars who have come before him, Kohli’s big payday comes off the pitch where he’s partnered with top brands such as Puma, Pepsi, Audi and Oakley”.

The world’s highest paid Athletes 2018 surprisingly is all male dominant as no women is being featured in it. The three famous sportspersons Li Na, Maria Sharapova and Serena Williams were the regular names in the list but in 2014, Li retired while Sharapova is still on ban of 15 months after using a banned substance.

Last year, Williams was the only female to be included in the list but after she give birth to her daughter, Alexis in September, her prize money dropped from USD 8 million to USD 62,000 this year.

This year NBA players shines as 40 players were included at the World’s 100 highest paid athletes compare to the last year figure of 32 players.

LeBron James is the NBA’s top earner with worth of USD 85.5 million including all endorsements. Other on the list includes Tennis star Roger Federer (7), golfer Tiger Woods (16), tennis player Rafael Nadal (20) and golfer Rory Mcllroy (26).

The 41-year-old American boxer Mayweather topped the list with an earning of USD 275 million payday while boxing for August boxing match against UFC star Conor McGregor.

The second position is occupied by the Argentina Professional football player Lionel Messi with an earning of USD 80 million followed by star Cristiano Ronaldo. The World’s 100 highest paid athletes includes international flavour that includes players from 22 countries, but Americans have lead the list with 66 players making it to the list.
