Two building collapsed on one another in Greater Noida last night thus killing 3 people with more than over dozen people still trapped in the debris. The trapped one includes a one-year-old baby with her parents and grandparents. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team with the fire brigade are carrying out the rescue operations.
The incident took place at around 8:30 pm when a four-storey building resided by the eighteen families in the Sher Beri Village collapsed on the nearby building. One of the nearby resident Mintu Dekka told to media that, “We were having dinner when we heard a loud ‘dham’ sound”.
He further added, “We thought it was an earthquake. When we opened the door, we could see only dust everywhere. We rushed out and saw the top floors of the building collapsing”.
About 400 NDRF team were deployed for the rescue work with the additional 400 police force to control the crowd gathered at the accident site. However, according to the local residents, the rescue work was carried with much delay thus leading to the death of lives.
With the sniffer dogs, sensors and camera, rescue operations were carry forward and CM Yogi Adityanath has asked the magistrate of the Buddh Nagar District to monitor the relief work along with the NDRF team.
