Swara Bhasker, Anurag Kashyap Impressed by Rahul Gandhi response on ‘Sacred Games’ issue

Both Actress Swara Bhasker and Co-producer of Netflix series ‘Sacred Games’, Anurag Kashyap were impressed by the Rahul Gandhi’s Take on the issue of alleged using “derogatory language” against Rajiv Gandhi in the series.

The son of the former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi said that unlike BJP and RSS who believed that the freedom of expression must be policed, he believed that it is fundamental democratic right.

Rahul Tweet further added, “My father lived and died in the service of India. The views of a character on a fictional web series can never change that”.

As a response of which Anurag Kashyap retweeted Rahul’s Tweet and said, “That’s yay” while Swara Bhasker also supported Rahul’s response by saying that he is able to keep the personal and national interests aside.

She said, “It is impressive that a mainstream politician like Rahul Gandhi is taking this clear and progressive stand on freedom of expression and censorship. Also, it’s gracious and mature that he is able to set aside the personal for the larger goal of democratic rights”.

Rahul Gandhi’s remark comes immediately after Delhi High Court decision to remove certain scenes from ‘sacred Games’ by saying that some of its scenes were defamatory to Rajiv Gandhi.

Another police complain was lodged by the congress activist Rajiv Sinha in Girish Police station in north Kolkata but it was soon withdrawn inspired by the Party leader’s stand for the issue.

Netflix new series Sacred Games was released on July 6 with eight episodes and will be live in 190 countries with four language.
