The Supreme Court on Tuesday sets the limit for bursting firecrackers on this Diwali. The apex body said that the green firecrackers will be allowed from 8 pm to 10 pm for a less polluted Diwali. Moreover, they further ordered the sale of only less polluting green firecrackers and banned the online sale on e-commerce sites.
According to the apex body, firecrackers exceeding the noise pollution limit like ‘ladi’ will be banned as well as selective places will soon be decided where the bursting of crackers will be permitted.
E-commerce websites like Flipkart and Amazon were not allowed to sell the firecrackers this Diwali and in case of any violation of the order, they will be hauled by the Supreme Court.
The disagreement with the new orders by Apex Court in any area will be liable to the police officer of that particular area and they further stressed the center to divert the people for community crackers during the festivals in Delhi-NCR.
Besides restricting the time limit of firecrackers in Diwali, the Supreme Court has also limited the firecrackers on Christmas and New year between 11:45 pm to 12:30 am.
Last year, the Delhi Government had put a complete ban on burning firecrackers seeing the critical levels of the pollution due to the excessive burning of the crop residue, the exhaust of the vehicles or industrial gases.
