six youth were dragged to death along with one in critical situation after the train engine ran over them in Hapur District of Uttar Pradesh. The incident took place on Sunday night when all of them were crossing the railway track.
Five men died on the spot with one unfortunate after battling with the severe injuries, the another one is still in the critical situation in the ICU at a nearby hospital in Saddiqpura.
The accident took place when seven of them tried to take a shortcut on the side of Delhi-Lucknow railway track to enter the colony around 9 pm on Sunday near Saddiqpura locality. They immediately jumped to the adjacent track without thinking much but unluckly the train ran over them.
Six of them, who were dead identified as Saleem, Ajay, Arif, Sameer, Akash and Rahul. The incident took place when the train was cancelled while they were going to Hyderabad to work as a cook in a wedding, so they returned from Ghaziabad and planned their trip next day.
As the news prevails, Superintendent of police Hemant Kutiyal, District magistrate Krishna Karunesh and other officer rushed to the accident spot.
According to the official, flyover bridge was already constructed close to Saddiqpura for the prevention of any accident but still the residents take the shortcut by crossing the tracks to reach early.
However, local residents protested and blocked the railway track stating that the area is always lit poorly at the night even when there is continuous movement of people who cross the railway track. While the school children and elderly people routinely use the railway track for crossing, there is no warning related to the arrival of the trains.
To tackle the stressful situation, police force was deployed in Saddiqpura.
