The story of the Gully Boy revolves around Murad (Ranveer) who is a rapper from the slums of Mumbai, who tries to break free and rise above his socioeconomic status with his street rap. Despite being pulled down repeatedly, he beats all the odds to become a successful rapper. Set in Mumbai’s Dharavi slums, the film is inspired by the lives of underground street rappers Divine and Naezy and throws light on Mumbai’s rap culture.
