Judgement in the Ram Rahim Rape Case is to be pronounced in the next few hours. The Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh has left for Panchkula in a large convoy of cars on Friday morning to appear in court. Earlier Mr. Singh was to leave by helicopter, but in some last minute dramatic changes he decided to go by road with a convoy of several hundred cars.
On the other hand, there was complete silence on the roads of Panchkula this morning with the markets closed and all major roads wearing a deserted look.
Curfew was imposed in three villages and parts of the city late on Thursday evening. Heavy police patrolling could be seen on the roads to ensure peace in the city. The road leading to the Dera headquarters was heavily barricaded with jersey barriers and the vehicles and individuals were not allowed to go past it. Earlier on Thursday, after ignoring appeals from the administration, a large number of Dera Sacha Sauda followers continued to stay in Panchkula on Friday giving a tough time to authorities. Haryana Police was assisted by central forces to push out a large number of Dera followers gathered over the past four days in Panchkula, but the followers have refused to listen.
