In the recently declared poll affidavits by the leaders of the parliament, over 1024 MPs and MLAs were charged of the criminal offences and with much surprise, majority of them are from the BJP party followed by Congress and Rashtriya Janata Dal party.
As per the reports released by the Association of Democratic Reforms (ADR), among the criminal offences, those who are facing kidnapping cases includes 64 MPs and MLAs- 16 of those from BJP and 6 each from Congress and Rashtriya Janata Dal party.
Besides these major parties, other MLAs and MPs from Nationalist Congress Party, Samajwadi party, Biju Janata Dal, DMK, Bhartiya Tribal Party, Janata Dal United, Lok Janshakti Party, Telangana Rashtra Samithi, Nirbal Indian Shoshit Hamara Aam Dal.
MLAs from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh top the list with each 9 elected representatives involved in kidnapping cases from each state followed by eight MLAs in Maharashtra and six from West Bengal.
Other state MLAs involved in the crimes includes Tamil Nadu, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan and Gujarat with three MLAs from each states.
The maximum number of kidnapping cases is on MP Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav as he is charged with the six kidnapping cases. Other MP from LJPs Rama Kishore Singh is accused with the four cases of kidnapping.
Other MPs involved in the crimes includes Sarfaraz Alam (RJD) of Bihar, Udayan Pratapsinha Bhonsale (NCP) of Maharshtra and Naba Kumar sarania (IND) of Assam.
