Odisha: Six-Year-Old went to buy biscuits, raped and left to die

Despite of nationwide anger regarding the inhuman Kathua Case and several promises taken to stop the crimes against the little ones, crime is still happening like a routine and an environment unsafe for the kids is increasing to its worst level. Recently, a six-year-old girl was being raped and left to die in school campus of Odisha’s Cuttack district by a 25-year-old neighbour Md. Mustaq.

The incident took place on Saturday when the minor went out to buy biscuits from a nearby shop but when she didn’t return after a while, the anxious family members starts searching her all over the village and shocked to see her child lying naked and in severe bleeding condition in a school campus.

The police said, “After a frantic search for over an hour the girl was traced lying unconscious and without clothes in the school campus with blood oozing from her head and mouth. The rapist left her dead presuming she was dead”.

The minor is immediately taken to a nearby nursing hospital and later on to SCB Medical College, Cuttack for the best treatment. Doctors of the SCB Medical college said that she has deep injuries on her face, head, chest and private parts.

The accused has been identified as 25-year-old youth, Mohammad Mustaq who lives in the same village of Jagannathpur. The man is now arrested by the police and a case under section 307, 376 (2)(m)(i) of IPC and section 6 of POSCO Act was registered against the culprit.

Odisha Health Minister Pratap Jena visited the hospital to check the condition of the minor.

He said, “A team of 13 doctors has been set up to treat the girl, who is in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Whether the girl was raped or not will be known after reports are received from departments. However, the girl has several injuries on her body”.

However, crimes against the minor is increasing like a communicable disease day-by-day and it wouldn’t stop until the government would take a big step to crush the unafraid culprits.
