Numerous Maratha groups gathered on the roads after calling for the Maharashtra Bandh on Tuesday thus demanding for the reservation in Government jobs and education. The protest turned violent after the suicide of a youth from a bridge over the Godavari river.
However, the protestor has assured not to disturb the supply of daily requirements like milk, vegetables as well the services of the public transport.
The protest has gathered the attention of huge number of Maratha groups after a suicide of 27-year-old youth named as Kakasaheb Shinde who was residing in Kaygon village in Aurangabad and he jumped off over a bridge of Godavari river.
Shinde was immediately rushed to the hospital where he was declared dead. The incident made the opposition leaders to outrage the protest against the BJP government.
Amid of the protest, Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis cancelled his visit to temple in Pandharpur as the Maratha group warned to disrupt the event of the CM.
Earlier at the CM’s Chinchwad event, 20 protestors of Maratha Kranti Morcha were detained by the police after they started shouting loudly in between the event- “Ek Maratha, Lakh Maratha”.
After detaining the protestor, Ganesh Shinde, deputy police commissioner said, “As a precautionary measure we have detained 20 protestors of the Marathi Kranti Morcha when they were on their way to venue of CM’s event”.
Followed by the protest of the Kranti Morcha, another Maratha outfit warned for extended disruptions if Devendra Fadnavis would not apologise for his remark in which he says that Maratha groups are creating trouble at Pandharpur.
However, the promised silent protest turned violent as Maratha Groups blocked the Ahmednagar-Aurangabad highway and damaged police van, dozens of vehicles in Parbhani district.
Maratha group take the possession of the Shinde’s body and asked for the resignation of Fadnavis outside the police station of Gangapur thus demanding for the criminal case filed against the CM.
