Kiren Rijiju faces notice for his Facebook post against Renuka Chowdhury

Congress party member Renuka Chowdhury moves privilege motion in Rajya Sabha against minister of state Kiren Rijiju over his Facebook post‘, ANI news agency reported.

The matter heats up when a Facebook post mocking Renuka Chowdhury’s laughter after PM Narendra Modi joked about in Rajya Sabha.

On Wednesday, Mr Rijiju posted a video of Ramayana series in which mythical character Surpanakha, evil king Ravana’s sister laughs loudly. After a few time, he again posted a video from the Rajya Sabha showing Ms. Chowdhury laughing loudly at PM’s joke.

Annoyingly, Ms. Chowdhury said, ‘this is highly objectionable’ thus showing a anger on Mr. Rijiju’s post.

Giving a response to president’s address, PM Narendra Modi was responding and going through government schemes, when Ms. Chowdhury started laughing loudly. However, vice president Venkaiah Naidu responded with a strange face but defending her PM Modi said, “meri aapse vinti hai renuka ji ko kuch mat kahiye. Ramayana serial ke baad aisi hansi sunne ka saubhagya aaj jaake mila hai (I request you to let Renuka Ji continue. After the Ramayana serial, we got the privilege of hearing this kind of laughter only today)”.

However, after a activity in social media about the matter, Mr. Rijiju deleted the video of the famous character of Surpanakha from Facebook yesterday, but the post from Rajya Sabha is still posted on twitter now showing her laughter in Rajya Sabha.

The congress started their politics by demanding apology from PM Modi of “lowering the dignity of his office” with his comment on Ms. Chowdhury.

Senior congress leader Anand Sharma said, “merely, a women parliamentarian was laughing at his claims…. what was alluded to (PM Modi) is shameful… we condemn it. He should apologize. One of his ministers has in social media posted something which is highly objectionable and the prime minister is silent”.

However, BJP has a different view on the matter. According to them, it was Ms. Chowdhury who had insulted Prime minister by laughing in the middle of the speech.
