Kaifiyat Express derailed in Auraiya district of Uttar Pradesh this morning around 2:50 am. A total of nine coaches were derailed, resulting in injuries to atleast 50 people. This is the second rail accident in the state in four days.
The Delhi-bound Kaifiyat Express was travelling from Azamgarh to Delhi, collided with a dumper between Pata and Achhalda railway station, said a spokesperson for the North Central Railway (NCR).
The train collided with a dumper around 2.50 am today. Railway minister Suresh Prabhu tweeted about the accident, saying that he is monitoring the situation personally.

Atleast 21 passengers were injured and have been taken to hospital, said a spokesperson of NCR. Earlier the General Manager of NCR had said that atleast 50 people were injured in the accident. The accident has impacted the train operations on the Delhi-Howrah route. Seven trains including Kanpur-New Delhi Shatabdi express have been cancelled whereas five trains including Howrah-New Delhi Rajdhani have been diverted. Due to blockage in both UP and DOWN lines, around 40 local trains are also diverted.
An NDRF team was dispatched from Lucknow to provide support to the victims. Additional forces and ambulance were also rushed to the accident spot from Auraiya, Etawah and Kannauj, while a relief train and medical train have been dispatched from Allahabad to the accident site.
This is the second rail accident that happened since last Saturday. The Puri-Haridwar Utkal Express derailed at Muzaffarnagar in UP on Saturday, killing 22 people and injuring 156.
