Jayalalitha biopic, Vidya Balan expected to play lead role, Vijay to direct

A biopic on the life of the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and actor J Jayalalithaa was announced by the Kollywood director Vijay of Madrasapattinam fame on Wednesday and the cast will be seen as a mixture of actors from Bollywood and south Indian industry with Vidya Balan expected to play the role of former late CM.

The first look of the yet to be named movie will be unveiled on Jayalalithaa’s birthday on February 24. Jayalalithaa’s biopic will be produced by the Brinda Prasad’s Vibri Media and it is expected to reach the audience speaking Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.

Talking about the biopic, Brinda Prasad said that Dr J Jayalalithaa is an inspirational women and the first look of the movie will be launched on her birthday.

He said, “Madam Dr J. Jayalalithaa was one of those rare few regional leaders who went on to become a force to reckon within Indian politics. Her life is an inspiration for women folk around the world. This film will be a tribute to her achievements both in cinema and politics. We will launch the movie on her birthday, February 24. The first look of the film will be released on that very day”.

One of another producer of Vibri, Vishnu Vardhan said, “We at Vibri have the vision of telling real stories and director Vijay is overseeing the pre-production work of the film himself as per our vision”.

The movie will focus on the life of film and political career of Jayalalithaa. Her controversial life was surrounded by the mythical political status and she entered in the film industry at an early age by stepping into Kannada film industry and ended up her acting career with 140 movies.

On December 5, 2016, Jayalalithaa passed away due to a massive cardiac arrest in Chennai.
