Jamal Khashoggi’s case: Five officials seek death penalty, 6 other indicted investigations

The growing international outcry on the killing of Jamal Khashoggi have led to the death penalty on the five officials by Saudi Arabia’s public prosecutor and six other members were indicted for killing the journalist.

Shaalan al-Shaalan, Saudi Arabia’s deputy prosecutor and the spokesman said, “The public prosecutor has requested the death penalty for 5 individuals who are charged with ordering and committing the crime and for the appropriate sentences for the other indicted individuals”.

Shaalan said that Jamal Khashoggi was being drugged in overdose and then dismembered followed by which his body parts were handed to an agent outside the consulate grounds.

A total of 21 individuals were held in custody, out of which 11 were indicted with investigations. Before that, Turkey called for the investigation in Jamal Khashoggi murder and shared a video recording linked to the murder with many countries like the United States, Western Allies and Saudi Arabia.

 However, the Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan said the orders for the killing of Jamal Khashoggi came from the higher diplomats.

It was said that Jamal was killed when he was visiting consulate to pick up the documents for his wedding with fiancée Hatice Cengiz.
