On Thursday, Sunrises Hyderabad won the match against Kings XI Punjab by 13 runs played at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad. The match is a sweet revenge by the Sunrisers Hyderabad who was earlier defeated by the opponent team in Mohali in the same season. Even the great players like Chris Gayle and K L Rahul could not handle the firestorm led by Rashid Khan who shake the team by taking the first wicket of record breaker K L Rahul.
Sunrisers Hyderabad put a target of 133 runs against Kings XI Punjab which seemed to be an easy task to be chased for the opponents especially when you have players like Chris Gayle and K L Rahul in the team but it doesn’t goes with the flow as K L Rahul was sent back by Rashid Khan in 32 runs thereby breaking the strong partnership with Chris Gayle who later on got out Basil Thampi.
The middle order seems to be more difficult now with 76 runs in 11 overs. However, the next eight batsmen managed to score just 62 runs thereby making Kings XI Punjab on 13 runs loss.
Kings Xi Punjab captain Ravichandran Ashwin gives the credit to Sunrisers bowler for the win by saying that the batsmen played unnecessarily shots.
In an interview after the match he said, “These things happen in this kind of a tournament and Sunrisers Hyderabad’s bowling made the difference. We lost wickets throughout the middle overs and I thought we kept attacking a little too much and lost few wickets”.
The main star of the match was Rashid Khan who play a major role in the Punjab’s Destruction by giving just 19 runs in 4 overs. His performance in this match comes as an excellent improvement of last match played against the same opponent in Mohali where Rashid made the most expensive T20 Figures of 1/55 in four overs.
