IPL 2018; KKR vs RCB, Virat Kohli’s Royal Challenger Bangalore defeated by 4 wickets

Kolkata Knight Riders led by the debutant captain Dinesh Kartik defeated the Virat Kohli’s Royal Challenger Bangalore in their first match of Indian Premier League 2018 by 4 wickets on Sunday at Eden Garden stadium.

KKR won the toss and choose to ball first while RCB after batting first put a challenging score of 176 with seven wickets which is not at all sufficient to win the match.

After winning the match, the new captain of the team said, “Feels very good. Nice to get a good start. I felt it was coming too well against the pacers. When AB and Virat were playing it was tough. We just prayed to God that Narine gets going. We all play for the crowd and we love to play for this team and this fantastic crowd”.

Nitesh Rana from the KKR team became the man of the match by taking 2 wickets and releasing 11 runs to the opponents while batting with the 34 runs in 25 balls.

Apart from Rana, the highlight of the show was Sunil Narine who marked a record of scoring two half century in less than 20 deliveries in IPL. with that achievement, another feather was added in his side by taking the wicket of Brendon McCullum.

Then comes the new skipper of the KKR team Dinesh Kartik who led the team to the corner and the final finishing by scoring unbeaten 35 with seven balls spare.

While in RCB, the legend AB de Villers and McCullum smashed 44 and 43 respectively and Mandeep Singh scored 37 thereby managing the team to score the run of 176 against KKR.

The start by the KKR team was little stressing as McCullum scores 14 runs giving Vinay Kumar a little stress. McCullum becomes dangerous when Virat Kohli joins hands with him, but Sunil Narine directly dislodged the stump and end up their 64 runs partnership.

After the match RCB captain Virat Kohli said in a post-match presentation, “I think we were 15 short with the bat. I played too many dot balls and couldn’t get any momentum going. Me and AB getting out in 2 balls to a part-timer was a game-changing event. Sunil took the game away from us with the way he batted”.
