Indian Premier League 2019 schedule announced for first 2 weeks

The Indian Premier League (IPL) on Tuesday released the schedule for the first two weeks, during which 17 matches will be played, of the 12th season of the cash-rich Twenty20 league.

Under the captaincy of Mahendra Singh Dhoni defending champions, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will face Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the opening match on March 23.

The Indian Premier League IPL said in a press release on Tuesday that “This is still subject to the announcement of Lok Sabha 2019 election dates. Once the election dates are released we will address any issues with the first two weeks and also prepare a schedule for the remainder of the season working with the local authorities around the polling dates.”

A total of 17 matches will be played during this period of two weeks across the eight home venues of the respective IPL franchises.

As per the current schedule, as many as 17 matches will be played from March 23 to April 5, with three double-header days on March 24, 30 and 31.
 
The Indian Premier League IPL teams Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers will play five games in the said period while the remaining six teams will play four matches each. The Capitals are scheduled to play three home games in the first two weeks while the Royal Challengers will play three away games. The rest of the teams will play two home and two away games each.
