The Indian team achieved a historic 2-1 win against Argentina in the final match of under-20 COTIF Cup football tournament in Spain with emerging stars like Deepak Tangri and Anwar Ali who made the top two winning goals.
The Indian team is led by 2006 World Cup winner Lionel Scaloni and mid-fielder star Pablo Aimar. Coach Pinto said in an interview after the match that the world will recognise the Indian team and it will bring an opportunity to test us in future.
Pinto said, “This victory will definitely earn Indian Football more respect in the world of football. It opens up a window of opportunity to test ourselves against the best in the world on a regular basis”.
He added further, “It is unbelievable! I am a very proud Indian today. This win is a testament to the efforts and belief of the All India Football Federation in moving forward towards developing the youth of the country”.
The first goal was snatched away by Deepak Tangri at the 4th minute while the second one is scored by Anwar Ali at the 68th minute. Indian Goalkeeper Prabhsukhan Gill protect the two excellent goals at the 56th and 61st minute.
Union Minister of Sports, Rajyavardhan Rathore congratulated the team and says that Indian sporting future is in the right hands.
He tweeted, “As the nation slept, our champs made history by defeating Argentina 2-1 in Cotif! This is a sure sign that India’s sporting future is in very safe hands”.
