The second match played between India and West Indies yesterday at Vishakhapatnam ended with a tie despite the extraordinary performance by the captain Virat Kohli who break the record of making fastest 10,000 runs surpassing master blaster Sachin Tendulkar’s record.
The match was in the suspense till the last ball of the match as West Indies gave a tough fightback to the Indian team. Indian team batted first and mounted 322 runs for the opponents by the amazing performance by skipper Virat Kohli and other team members.
The suspense in the match erupted when West Indies needs 22 runs in 18 balls but breaking down their aspirations, Yuzvendra Chahal gives just 2 runs along with a wicket of Jason Holder but Mohammed Shami pushed against the pressure in the 49th over by snatching 6 runs. The flow of the west indies was gain broke down by Umesh Yadav who took Ashley’s wicket and make the west indies team to chase 5 runs in the last ball.
The partnership of 143 runs between Hope and Hetmyer was good to threaten the Indian team but it was taken back by Chahal which continued to pressurise the west indies team by the good strategies by Kohli and MS Dhoni thus making ground difficult for West Indies.
On the batting front, partnership between Kohli and Rayudu did really well who give 139 runs with just 142 balls and Rayudu established himself on the no. 4 spots by hitting 83 runs with 80 balls.
After the match, Virat Kohli said talked about the good performance of the Indian team and said, “when the run-rate fell under 6, I thought they were ahead but Kuldeep got us two wickets. In the end, we felt we have got the game. The boundary, in the end, Rayudu was a couple of inches away from pulling out a win. I think we also did well to sneak in a tie in the end”.
With the end of the 2nd match in the five matches ODI, India is in lead with 1-0 and will continue to dominate in the further matches.
