India vs Australia, 2nd Test: India blow as Ashwin, Sharma ruled out of second Test

On Thursday, India has suffered a monstrous blow on the eve of the second Test with star finger spinner Ravi Ashwin ruled out of the match. India revealed that Ashwin and Rohit Sharma are both injured and are unavailable for the match which will start on Friday in Perth.

According to the report, BCCI said that “Ravi Ashwin has a left-sided abdominal strain. He is receiving treatment at the moment”. R Ashwin has a left-sided abdominal strain. Rohit Sharma jarred his lower back while fielding in the 1st Test at Adelaide. He is undergoing treatment.

BCCI also stated that Prithvi Shaw is also “recovering well” but still he is under treatment. The BCCI is also monitoring these players who got injured.

With the trio unavailable for selection, India included Hanuma Vihari, Ravindra Jadeja, Umesh Yadav and Bhuvneshwar Kumar in a 13-man squad announced on eve of the second Test. Hanuma Vihari will come straight into the middle order to replace Sharma, and he also bowls part-time spin if the team requires it. If India wants a full-time spinner Ravindra Jadeja will be in. Ashwin took six wickets in the first Test, which India won by 31.

BCCI also stated that “Ashwin’s unavailability is a big loss as for Indian cricket team as he had taken a six-wicket haul at Adelaide to help India record their first win in a series opener in Australia.

A thirteen-man squad who will be playing in the test which is going to start from Friday in Perth is listed below:

Virat Kohli (Captain), M Vijay, KL Rahul, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, Hanuma Vihari, Rishabh Pant, Ravindra Jadeja, Ishant Sharma, Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Umesh Yadav.
