For the first time, actor Akshay Kumar opened himself for the increasing trend of the Bollywood biopic movies by saying that those movies should be make on the real heroes but not on the reel heroes.
In a recent interview, Akshay said, “There are so many amazing stories in history, like Tapan Das (his character in Gold), Arunachalam Muruganantham on whose life Padman was based, who have steered India in a positive direction. I would be a fool to make a biopic on myself. I would never even think of it, it will be a shallow thing to do for myself. I want to make biopic on real heroes and not reel heroes”.
On comparing Sharukh Khan’s movie Chak De India with Akshay Kumar’s Gold, the actor miffed a little and said that it is frivolous to compare both the movies as both are different.
He said, “Everything will be a competition. For me, it is all about doing a good film. Chak De India was different. It is frivolous to even think like that or competing with that film. Don’t compare”.
‘Gold’ movie is a biopic of a hockey legend Tapan Das who made India proud by winning the first ever gold after the independence. Impressed by the director of Gold, Reema Kagti, Akshay kumar said that she did a commendable job and handled the sports things very well.
He further added, “It is a tough film to handle as you are taking the audience to the time period of 1936, then 1947 and 1948, she had to do so much homework. To make a film in that era is very beautiful job”.
Besides Akshay, other actors cast in the movie includes Kunal Kapoor, Amit Sadh and Vineet Singh and the movie will hit the theatre with Satameva Jayate on August 15.
