“I can be raped, and I can be killed”, says Kathua Gangrape case Victim’s lawyer

One of the most inhuman case, the Kathua Gangrape case will go to trial on Monday accusing eight person including a juvenile for captivating an eight-year old girl Asifa and sexually assaulting her before murdering in the small village temple of Kathua district. However, the lawyer of the kathura Gangrape case, Deepika Singh Rajawat, said that she has been threatened and boycotted socially by labelling as anti-Hindu.

Deepika further added that, “Today I don’t know, I am not in my sense. I can be raped. I can be killed and maybe they won’t allow me to practice court. They have isolated me, I don’t know how I can survive”.

The eight culprits in the Kathua gangrape case includes the caretaker of the temple, Sanji Ram with his juvenile nephew and son Vishal jangotra, a special police officers Deepak Khajuria and Surendra Verma joined by the friend Parvesh Kumar. The other two accused are the investigating police officers Tilak Raj and Anand Dutta who took the bribe of Rs 4 Lakh for destroying the important evidence in the Kathua gangrape case.

The Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Mehbooba Mufti had called for a special court to complete the case in 90 days and two Sikh lawyers were appointed to ensure the neutrality of the case in order to avoid and Hindu-Muslim riots in the area.

However, the nationwide protest is seen regarding the serious crime done against the humanity while social media is  flooded with posts showing anger for the kathua gangrape case and thereby demanding a strict action which needs to be done so that it may not be repeated in the future.

Yesterday, people gathered in hundreds in the national capital with the slogan of “Not in My Name” at the Parliament street protesting against the increasing number of rape cases and thousands of Mumbaikars along with the Bollywood celebrities in vast numbers gathered on the streets of Bandra protesting against the sexual assault of both Asifa and Unnao rape case.

The celebrities who took part in the protest includes Akshay Kumar, wife Twinkle Khanna along with son Aarav, music director Vishal Dadlani, veteran actress Helen, actor Rajkumar Rao, Tara Sharma, Aditi Rao Hydrai.
