The four-day weapon exhibition ‘Defence Expo 2018’ will be started from April 11 at Thiruvidanthai in South Chennai. The biggest exhibition will mark the presence of 47 countries including the United States, UK, Russia, Nepal, Sweden, Italy, Portugal, Afghanistan and more.
Defence Expo is a biannual exhibition which will showcase India’s strength in the defence public sector. The theme of the mega show is “India: The Emerging Defence Manufacturing Hub”. Around 670 defence unit will participate in the event including 154 participants from the foreign defence manufacturers.
In the first day of the event, Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will address a press conference while Prime Minister Narendra Modi will mark his presence on the next day of the event.
Through the Defence Expo, India will push up the new partnerships with the private manufacturing sectors and will promote the ‘Make in India’ initiative further. Previously, it was held in Goa and with the same motive of Make in India.
The focus of the Defence Expo is many starting from the world fastest supersonic missile ‘BrahMos’, Pinkara rockets, Akash missile to Dhanush. It will display all the three air-to-air, sea-to-sea and surface-to-surface missiles.
The India will proudly display battle tanks like Bridge Laying Tanks, MBT Arjun, T90 and T72. Corvettes, destroyers, corvettes and frigates will also be unveiled.
The private sector naval shipyard like Magazon Docks, Hindustan Shipyard and Goa shipyard will showcase their power.
