Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt has been released today on a good note across India.
The movie is bound to make a huge amount at the box office on its opening day and weekend.
When the first trailer of Gully Boy had released it had received a solid response from fans and media all over. However, soon there was a comparison being made with 2002 Hollywood hit 8 Mile starring Eminem.
Gully Boy is the Zoya Akhtar’s most heartfelt and accomplished movie yet.
The film has a single-thread premise: a rapper from the Dharavi slum in Mumbai overcomes hardscrabble circumstances, a dysfunctional family, and self-doubt to become a star in his firmament. But it has enough texture to make it all worthwhile.
The film Gully Boy is dedicated to the Mumbai rappers Naezy and Divine follow a dreamer from the wrong side of the tracks.
The film is co-produced by Ritesh Shidwani and Farhan Akhtar under the banners of Tiger Baby and Excel Entertainment productions.
The film stars Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in the lead role. The film also features Kalki Koechlin, Vijay Raj and Siddhant Chaturvedi in supporting roles.
The film y is about a 22-year-old boy “Murad” (Ranveer Singh) from a ghetto in Mumbai, India. The son of a driver, his parents worked hard to get him educated so that he could have a white-collar job.
Gully Boy ’s filmmaker Zoya Akhtar mentioned in a tweet that “Gully Boy is inspired by the lives of Mumbai rappers, Divine and Neazy, who grew up in the slums of Mumbai but went on to become leading rappers of the city, winning applause and fame. The film’s dialogues and its many rap numbers have been well received by the public, making it among the most anticipated films of 2019.”
