Tens to thousands of people gathered with joy on the streets of Paris’ Champs-Elysees Avenue to celebrate the 4-2 victory of France over Crotia in the FIFA World Cup Final in Moscow on Sunday. This is the second time in 20 years when France has won the World Cup and the crowd did the full justice to the historical win.
The epic match of FIFA World Cup played yesterday at the Luzhniki stadium lifted the France to win with four goals each from Antoine Griezmann, Paul Pogbe, Mario Mandzukic and Kylian Mbappe.
A man named Goffrey Hamsik dressed in the colour of victory with hat resembling the France national symbol and shirt with No 10 for Kylian Mbappe said the victory is much needed.
He said, “It represents enormous things. We’ve had lots of problems in France these years. This is good for the morale. Here, we are all united. We mix. There is no religion, there is nothing, and that’s what feels good”.
The Napoleon’s triumphal arch was fully covered with the smoke of the France National colours- blue, white and red. Every newspaper kiosk and bus stops marked the cheers of happiest crowd with the waving national flags and national anthem, the marseillaise rang out loudly.
And all above, the Eiffel tower celebrates the triumph in its own way by flashing the national colors with the two important dates of 1998-2018 to mark the France’s World Cup titles.
Frederiue Pourquet and her friends were emotional with the win and said, “We’re happy. It took 20 years. it’s the pride of the nation. It unites everyone. It federates”.
However, the celebration was not only remembered for the cheers as a small group of the unruly fans at Champs Elysees clashed with the police. They damaged the businesses and properties at the place.
Some even throw stones and other projectiles at the police. The police responded with the tear gas followed by the stampede among the crowd. About 110,000 security personnel were deployed for the big day festival on Sunday.
