Ex-PM Nawaz Sharif’s wife Begum Kulsoom died in London

Former Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif’s Wife Begum Kulsoom died today in London after fighting a long battle with cancer.

Begum Kulsoom was undergoing with the treatment of cancer since June 2014 and on Tuesday, her condition deteriorate all of a sudden on Monday night after which she was placed on life supporting system.

Last year, she was diagnosed with throat cancer after which she stayed at London and went multiple surgeries along with chemotherapy sessions.

The 68 year old Begum Kulsoom’s death was confirmed by Nawaz Sharif’s brother Shehbaz Sharif who took to twitter and said, “My sister-in-law and the wife of Nawaz Sharif sahib is no more amongst us. May God bless her soul”.

Nawaz Sharif with his daughter Maryam and son-in-law Captain Muhammad Safdar is serving the jail term in Rawalpindi after being found guilty in a corruption case in July.

According to the sources, Nawaz Sharif and his daughter with son-in-law have been informed about Begum Kulsoom’s death. Her body will be brought to Pakistan to rest in peace.

Prime Minister Of Pakistan, Imran Khan has expressed his condolence to the family and directed the Pakistan High Commission in London to provide all the necessary facilities to Begum Kulsoom’s family so that she could be soon brought to her country.

Begum Kulsoom was born in 1950 in Lahore to a Kashmiri family and took up her graduation degree from Christian College in Lahore and Master Degree in Urdu from Punjab University in 1970.

She was elected as the president of the PML-N from 1999 to 2002 when her husband was defeated by Pervez Musharraf and last year, she was elected as the Lahore’s NA-120 constituency after her husband was disqualified.

Begum kulsoon married to Nawaz Sharif in April 1971 and has four children after her- Maryam, Hassan, Hussain and Asma.
