Aamir Khan’s rejection for rejecting Sanju, wanted to play Sanjay Dutt

One of the most awaited movie of this year, ‘Sanju’ is all set to hit the theatre on June 29. The movie starring Ranbir Kapoor in the lead role is revolving around the buzz that Aamir was offered to play the role of Sanjay Dutt’s father Sunil Dutt in the movie, but he refused to do.

However, cutting down all the rumours for the role, Aamir Khan talked about the reason for not taking Sanju’s father role in a recent media interaction.

Aamir said, “He(Hirani) approached me with the script and I loved it. He wanted me to play Dutt Saab’s role. It is a fantastic role and the story is largely on the father-son relationship. But Sanju’s role is unbelievable”.

He further added, “So as an actor, I told Raju that Sanjay Dutt’s role is so wonderful that it won my heart. So, in the film I can’t do any other role but Sanjay Dutt’s, which of course I cannot do because Ranbir is playing it. So, do not offer me anything”.

Aamir Khan shared a good relationship with Sunil Dutt. Aamir also talked about the old memories he shared with him as Sunil Dutt used to send him wishes on occasions of Diwali, Eid, Birthday and if Aamir’s movie did well, Sunil Dutt sent him a congratulation note also.

Speaking about another incident of riots which took place in 1993, the Hindi film industry protested under the statue of Mahatma Gandhi near Mantralaya. Around 40 people gathered and sat there for one whole night and Aamir was among them. He recalled his experienced with great directors on that night.

He said, “For the night, we decided to continue it rationally. So, on the first time, Dutt Saab, Yash Chopra, Johny Walker, I and one of the film producers, we all sat down together under the Gandhi statue. We spent the whole night there. Of course, the next day people came and by the evening the CM took some action”.

Aamir Khan is recently working on his next project Thugs of Hindostan which will be released in November this year.
