65th National Film Awards announced: Sridevi won the best actress, Bahubali as the Best Movie

With much speculations, the 65th National Film Awards have finally announced today and late Actress Sridevi has been awarded with Best actress for the movie MOM while the epic historical fantasy saga ‘Bahubali’ won the three categories including the best popular movie.

Director of MOM, Ravi Updyawar expressed his excitement and said, “Wow, she deserves it. I’m really happy it’s a great news for me because it was our film. She had done a fabulous job. We all missing her now”.

The jury members of the 65th National Film Awards includes filmmaker Shekar Kapur, screenwriter Imtiaz Hussain, actress Gautami Tadimalla and lyrict Mehboob. The jury have sent its recommendations to the Information and Broadcasting minister Smriti Irani.

Bahubali is also awarded with Best Action choreography and Best Special Effects besides winning as the best movie.

Besides Bahubali, Rajkummar Rao and Pankaj Tripathi Starring movie Newton is awarded with the Best Hindi Film honour at the 65th National Film Awards. It was also selected as the Best Foreign Language film category for the Oscar 2018.

After getting selected as the Special Mention Award for Newton, actor Pankaj Tripathi shared his excitement.

He said, “I am absolutely delighted. I had no idea I was even in the running. It feels amazing to know that the whole country thought my role in Newton was one of my best and to win the Special Mention Award at the highest film award in India is just exhilarating. My Director and co-actors made it so easy for to act in this film”.

The head of the jury, Shekhar Kapur was stunned by the quality of the movies nominated and especially the regional cinema this year.

Late veteran actor Vinod Khanna is awarded with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award  while Village Rockstar is awarded with the Best feature movie.
