Hyundai launched the All New 2017 Verna on Tuesday. The starting price is set to be at Rs 7.99 lakh for petrol and Rs 9.19 lakh for diesel. While the prices do look competitive with the top model going up to Rs. 12.61 lakh for the diesel automatic version, do note that these prices are introductory and limited to just the first 20,000 customers.
This will be the fifth-generation Verna with several new features and new design elements. The new Verna will be offered in seven colour options. It will continue to provide tough competition to the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and the Honda City. The fifth-generation Verna will be loaded with several new design elements including a cascading front grille, projector and cornering head lights, projector fog lamps and LED tail lamps on the outside. The length, wheelbase and trunk space have also been increased although the height remains the same.
The engines for the new Verna however remain the same which are – albeit refined – 1.6 Dual VTVT petrol and the 1.6 VGT diesel engines. The petrol engine has a power output of 123 Ps and 15.4 KGM of torque while the figures for the diesel engine stands at 128 Ps and 26.5 KGM. Hyundai claims that the fuel efficiency has also gone up – petrol automatic to 15.92kmpl, petrol manual to 17.70kmpl, diesel automatic to 21.02kmpl and diesel manual to 24.75kmpl.
